Your Mercedes
A-Class, various: 160/170
My girlfriend has an A160 with alloys, good tyres, pressures checked but it just seems a bit wallowy, not dangerous but a bit less controlled than we would like. Looks like new springs on the rear so (hopefully) no problems there.

I know that these things aren't the most stable and that they only just passed the 'Elk Test'.

What are the common consumables and how common?

Also, if I go for replacement shocks - what make is best?

Cheers

You don't mention what year A160 you have,

jack up the rear of the car and see if you can move the rear wheel in & out, (If so you need new rear suspension arm bearings) a common problem apparantly.. certinaly gave us the the problem you mentioned..

I have just replaced these on our A class (2000)... much better now...

probably cost £200-£300 in stealership to replace, i did mine myself (£50) and 5 or so hours of hard work, cos the old ones were disintegrated and all rusted in place.

I believe the shocks fitted are Bilstein sport..

may be worth getting the tracking checked at a mercedes dealer (although this may not be cheap either)
