Brabus Chip/ECU for North American CDIs

Hello All!

This is my first post here, and I have an interesting question-

I found an thread on here regarding the Brabus chip for an E320 CDI Sport in europe somewhere...

My question: Can I install a Brabus chip on a North American (NA) E320 CDI? Where does this chip install to? (Is it like the actual computer chip that goes on the ECU board?)

I drove/fell in love with a 2005 E320 CDI today while looking for an E55 AMG... so I guess I'm trying to move the diesel a litttle bit closer to the "Sport Car" side.

Not that its slow by ANY means, and I've had plenty of older merc diesels and BMW diesels, nothing compares to the speed out of this new CDI...

P.S. Question for GCL Tuning: Is the ST3 available for NA cars? Is it designed to be switched on the go? (I can drive in econ mode then flip it to performance?)

My UK dealer is currently offering a weeks free trial of a plug and play Brabus chipset. It seems to be a 'small black box' but it's not black and from what I saw it had flying lead connections into the management system. Adds about 50HP to the bigger diesels.
I would think you would need to get your insurance upgraded if you had one of these fitted.
North American engines .....??

I was asking about North American E320 CDIs because I'm not sure what if any differences exist between the Euro and NA engine management systems. As far as I can tell the only available upgrade in NA is the KD-Box by Kleemann...

Here we have to do emissions checking on whats called OBD-II which was designed by the American government to kill and destroy all that is good and true when it comes to owning or driving any car.

My car wouldn't have to pass any specific emissions testing, but it must not throw a code from the computer (because that will signal a fail)

Hi , yes the CDI models are covered. 45-50 BHP and 85-90nm + warranty

The ST3 can be switched wiliest on the move but will take 10-15 mile's to fully adapt. you can have any three MAP's or two and the ori file.



P.S with regards to a CHIP this is not needed for anything after 2000 due to the sufficient protocols and checksumm's

pre 2000 = CHIP / 2000 and on = Software
