Hello to all,
At last i've found a Merc forum!!! I just hope that everyone loves commercials as much as cars.
I have an interesting little problem which i'm hoping someone will have some idea on.
I'm the proud owner of an ex-Westcountry 310D Ambulance, its the 2.9L 602 5pot engine. It has been retrofitted with a TB Turbo kit (turbo & intercooler).
The problem is:
Engine starts on the button every time, no problem, it drives well etc. But after it's warmed up there is a diesel leak from around every injector.
But not from the injectors themselves, where the injector sits in the head there appears to be a small circular indent. This is so hard to explain.
The injectors sit about an inch below the flat surface of where the manifold connects, around each injector hole there appears to be a small recess with a hole. When warm diesel begins bubbling out of this hole, not a lot, but enough for the MoT man to fail it on a fuel leak.
I am wondering if anyone has any ideas, there's nothing really in the Russek manual i have on the vehicle.

I should be able to take photo's in a day or two.

Thanks very much in advance.

Martyn the ambulance man :)

I have a (probably very stupid) idea - what about PTFE tape around the injector threads? I've been doing some plumbing recently and now firmly believe PTFE tape can solve any problem. It's probably best I don't work in a nuclear facility, isn't it?

Hi there -- an easy problem to cure, release the injector pipe and undo the two nuts holding the injector into the cyl head, remove the injectors and replace the copper washer at the bottom ( sits between the injector and cyl head ) then relace injector tighten up, job cured. It may be necessary to put a scerdriver into the old washer to release it from the head, they sometimes stick there.
