    Hi,
Just joined the Forum to ask a few questions. I appologise if they have been asked before.

I currently own a Mk1 Triumph GT6, Fab car but not to good when i want to go out on country drives to the Coast etc with the wife and 2 young children, (No rear Seat). As such i am looking to sell the car and buy something that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

I stumbled across the Mercdes SL, Looks like a great car. Before i look to sell my GT6 and buy another more shall we say practical classic/classical car i wondered if i could ask some questions form people that no.

I have 2 children aged 2 & 4, will they be able to sit comfortable on the back becnh seat?
What is the best model to buy (Dont all shout but i will only have about 6k to spend) Please say if with that money Im going to get a load of rubbish.

Thanks for any adivice you can give.

    Kind Regards
    Mat

I'd take the kids to sit in one and go from there.

For £6k you should be able to get a reasonable R129 series SL. The back seats are ideal for children of that age, but does depend how far back you have the front seats. Go for the SL500 as the V8 is tremendous fun and they generally come loaded with the options that were extra in the smaller engined models and you would always regret it if you went for a lesser model. The panoramic roof is a wonderful addition that came as standard on the later models, post 1996 facelift I think.

thanks for the information, i will have to find one locally in a few months and go from there.

Are there any differnet issues with the SL 500 V8 over the small enginged SL's

they use more fuel, but the smile on your face is worth it.

    our kids

8.5 and 7.5 still fit comfortably in the back of our r107. They were designed as proper 2+2 s.
