Buying advice - C220 - Behr/Valeo rad issue.

Hi - just looking for some informed advice please fellas. I'm well aware of the issues surrounding the radiator issues on the c 220 cdi but am looking to buy a car maybe 5/6 years old - 51 plate through to 04. Would this problem surface early on in the cars life or can it happen anytime. Say I got a car that had 80/90 k on it but it had the Valeo rad - would the problem have been more likely in the earlier years or could it still be a potential problem now.

Hello Steve. because it has not happened it is no guarantee that it will not. Can you tell the owner/ garage of your concerns and get the price down to allow foe a new rad.

I have heard in the pipe line that a firm is bringing out a mod kit tat uses a separate cooler for the box fluid

Any idea of cost involved to change rads by an indie - just to factor this in as a bargaining tool ??

You could do a web search,,a firm in Ireland was selling them at £110
