What sort of deal could you reasonably expect to get off a new merc at the moment - looking at the all new GLA. How far can I expect them to come down?

top marq cars seem to be in quite big demand at the moment with people not being able to spend their money on holidays etc at the moment. so not sure if they will looking for business. Plenty bargins to be had at the other end of the market place with so many needing to tighten their belts in worrying times - sadly this virus crap is creating even greater disparity of wealth.

Use www.carwow.co.uk, pits them all against each other.

I have nearly always bought 2-3 years old its a massive saving on the new price, & still with MB warranty.
I bought one 4 year old CLK from a MB dealer who gave me a years MB warranty with it.

I bought my S204 used approved 4 1/2 years old from our local MB main dealer, came with 1 years Tier 1 warranty - and was less than 1/2 what it would have cost new!

I do the same. I find the lowest mileage I can and generally they are just like a new car. My latest one is actually three years old but had only done 12,500 miles and it is just like brand new :D

will try them now as a bench mark, if nothing else I can beat the dealer over the head with it - LOL

this would be our first new car ever - in the past have always went for ex demos etc (save a fortune) and they are as good as new. People who buy new are mad!

we really like the GLA and with them being so new, ex demos won't be available for a while, so may be going to bite the bullet and have one out of the box.

out of the cars we have tried (Tiguan, Prevoke, XC40, Rav hybrid, Mitsi) the Merc comes out well on top (volvo was alright though, nice car) and the Land Rover was just too thirsty (32.6mpg on its test drive) - gla manged 58.6

As stated carwow and whatcar are good because dealers compete for your business then you speak to them directly. Drive the deal can usually offer a bigger discount, but they are a broker and you speak to them first who will then put you in touch with one specific dealer who you buy the car from.
Part exchange can be negotiated with carwow and whatcar dealers but not with drive the deal...at least not officially.
Also if you happen to live in Scotland it is quite rare to find any dealers quoting on carwow or whatcar, and definitely not with drive the deal.
I managed to get a local scottish dealer to match the maximum 10% discount I was getting on both carwow and whatcar, but not a hope in hell of matching drive the deal price.
This was BC(Before Covid) with my car being delivered to the dealer on day of lockdown, then I was able to pick up on 26 June.
Uncertain times now for sure...but deals are still out there if you look for them.

P..S. You cant beat the feeling of being the very first owner of a car, but you do pay for the privilege.
The real winners are the next owners of my cars which are usually around 2 years old. :)

The thing with Corona is people just are not buying cars, dealers still have to meet targets so either there is little room for negotiating or they are throwing cars at you.

Get in the dealers and start talking shop.

Be sure to post back and tell us your success!

I think you are possibly incorrect there. Cars are selling big at the moment and prices are high. A Car Dealer mate of mine in Ipswich has told me that the flood gates are open with pent up demand. :) Only what I have been told  I am talking used car sector here though and I believe New car sector is the same

If there is a big demand for new cars, that will produce a glut of second hand cars & drive the price down.

Was in a merc dealership at the weekend and the chap said when you spec your car up on the site you won’t pay the final price And they will discount it as they want you in a new car. The only one you won’t get a discount on is the EQC what you spec on them is what you pay.i did mention in another thread about my friend buying the 1.3 turbo GLA and he loves it 165 bhp

That was the reason I initially used CarWow when I bought my GLC back 2018. One of the quotes was from my local dealer in Southampton and I went with them which took about 7.5% off the price. The best quote was from North Wales but wasn’t good enough for all the hassle associated with a long distance transaction.

no dealership nearby or we would have tried one.

agreed - especially the upmarket cars, I know someone who works in a Land Rover dealership (not a salesman) and sales are going through the roof.

Thanks again for this, the deal the local MB dealership are offering seems fair enough, it is as good as the comparison sites + they are throwing in 3 years servicing

Think I will go for it - even though I know its madness to e buying another oil burner,

I had the same feedback from the dealer I bought the CLS from. He said they were struggling to get used stock. There was a queue of people waiting for my car if I didn't buy it ( ...and the band played Believe It If You Like) :D

3 years free servicing on a brand new car.....that is a major incentive and would seal the deal for me.
I've seen Mercedes dealers offer this on used cars but not on new ones. I couldnt get my dealer to even throw in 1 free service. :(
