I'll be changing the oil in our W124 E220 over the Christmas, and just priced a 4.5 litre container of Castrol 10W-40 Magnatech at a local shop at £27.50. I've always used GTX in my BMW so this seemed pricey to me but then I found this shop was looking for £29 for 5 litres of GTX. I spent 8 years living in California where we paid about $1.20 per quart of GTX so everything else looks crazy prices to me.
Ok, given that we can't get close to US prices on this side of the Atlantic, would I be better off buying oil for the car in Ireland? We'll be driving over to Dublin on the 22nd. £27.50 is about €40, and even though most things in Ireland are a rip off, petrol is a good bit cheaper than the UK so maybe oil is the same. Any members in Ireland know the average price of Castrol there, and can anyone recommend a good supplier around south Dublin ?
Thanks
