Hi Guys - new potential Mercedes owner here.

Been looking at coupes and like the look of the E180 Kompressor. Was looking to buy a 06 or 07 with low mileage (petrol and auto box). What's the scoop from your perspective? Worth buying or steer clear? Review seem reasonably positive.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Thanks guys - yes I meant the C 180 (there is an E before the 180 but I know squat about Mercs and the nomenclature). I had the 3 series coupe in the list of candidates but (1) they're a bit more expensive (2) everyone has one (3) the cabin doesn't look as snug. Hoping I wont be disappointed with the performance. I had a loaner of the C 220 diesel for a while and although it was nice to drive it felt sluggish from rest. By the way, its the auto petrol version I'm looking at as Edinburgh has become a an oozing parking lot with stop go traffic pertty much all day long.

My partner has just bought a brand new CLC180 Kompressor with auto/tip box and I am mightily impressed with it. Build quality seems fine (built in South America) and paint is sleek and glossy.

The engine is really quiet and it pulls really well even though tight and new. Fuel consumption is disappointing so far but will get better over time I am sure.

The 'worst' thing about it to me is the 'Artico' seat material (standard fit on the Sports Spec), god it makes you sweat. I woul rather have cloth and make Artico a "no cost delete" option. It looks great, but isn't nice in my opinion.

I recommended she look at this as an alternative to another A3 following rubbish customer care at Audi dealer(s) and she loves it. I would definately consider one if I downsized.
