Hi Guys,
Recently bought a 1999T C180 non-aircon. Looking underneath yesterday to check whether it has a torque convertor drain plug (it has) I noticed a load of white corrosion-like stuff on the bell housing, looks like it might be coolant leaking from somewhere around the number 4 (rearmost) cylinder near the exhaust manifold on the drivers side (above the block coolant drain plug).

Looked up but couldn't see where it had been coming from.

The car doesn't appear to be loosing coolant, so possibly a slow leak.

Any common places for this leak to be coming from ?

Many thanks,

John:confused:

If you can see you torque converter drain plug from underneath without the bottom of the gearbox off you have a few problems ;-)

Big problem is that the fans blow everything to the back, antifreeze dries as a white powder, you have one hose connection on the rear, that may have leaked at some time.

Keep your eyes on the water, or wash the engine down with one of the spray cleaners,it makes it easier..
