My 1994 C180 recently broke down. RAC called and rather embarrisingly filled with petrol and solved the problem. However, the gauge shows 1/2 tank of fuel and when filling can only get about £27 of petrol in tank, so I know that the tank is half full or (half empty!!) Does anyone have any idea why the fuel doesn't get through to the engine when tank goes below half ???

If I keep the tank filled over half then there is no problemm just a bit annoying having to fill up more often.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

This is a hard one, the only thing that I can find is, there are some faulty fuel filters, that have an integrated fuel presure regulator, this relates to filters made 27.06 2001 to 17 07 2001.
Engine dies, right fuel chamber empty, left nearly full.
Fuel line can come off suction pump, remove and re fit, or suction pump soiled, and clean with compressed air.

220 fuel supply

Hi

The 202 was one of the first cars to have a saddle tank IE large holding areas either side and a ridge in the middle ( to allow prop shaft) this type of tank requires some kind of pump to get fuel from the leaft to the right where the fuel pickup is. the problem is some times caused when new sender units are installed and the internal fuel lines get kinked

Remove the sender units and check the instalation pipe work
