I purchased aq C180 Kompressor on a 52 plate a year ago, it has 50K on the clock and has a full MBSH. After a long trip yesterday the engine warning light came, there was a slight shuddering along with a lack of power. Mercedes came out to have a look and informed me that one of the valves in cylinder number one had stuck. I understand that this could cost up to £2.5K. After some research last night I have discovered that there may be a fault with engines of this age and typr as this is a common occurence.

Can anyone either confirm this or offer any advice?

Thanks in advance.

I am asuming this is a 271 engine and the valves are sticking due to an excesive build up of carbon around the valves. There is now a burn off process done via software on the Star diagnosis machine to correct this fault, or rather clear the carbon till it builds up next time.

i am presuming you have a 271 engine

first run a forte engine flush, get stonking hot, drain oil, renew oil and filter, add forte top end treatment, get level correct and engine warm, then run on motorway for 10-15 mins in 3rd gear at approx 4000-4500 rpm,

ive done this on many occasions with 100% success

I am intrested to see you recommend forte.

Dad had his 04 freelander recently serviced by a london main dealer, who used these products, dam near £200 worth of add ons to a standard service. seemed like a good profit booster and total waste of money to me

oil, fuel, coolant, and air con "additive" used.

Do they do someting other than enhance the profit margin? particularly as they dont seem to be available via retail trade.

never used the air con additive, but the coolant 1 is great for flushing radiators, though at 5 years old id question the requirement for it, especially if the anti freeze is changed every 2 or 3 years. the fuel additive is excellent, especially for diesels. brings emissions right down, and the oil flush is better than any ive ever used, although there are many that are similar. they do seem to be trade only, but you can buy them from some indie's. i worked at a place that used them so i tried various ones. incidentally forte also have an oil additive that rejuvenates oil seals. the crankshaft oil seal went in an old ford i had. escort td i think. anyhow, i put a bottle of this additive in, ran it for a few days (till the bellhousing had drained of any oil inside it) and cleaned under the car. it never dripped again! i sold it 18 months later, and the guy i sold it to had no problems either!

so yes they do work, and id definately give MBTech's method a try! it cant make it worse!
