Hi,my car is a c200 (202) petrol w plate year 2000 last of the old shape with140000 miles on it
It intermittently stalls when I come to a halt from general driving(eg at a t junction etc).A new development is the car freely reving, almost to the point of stalling again when you come to a halt
I have disconnected and reconnected the maf and the engine didn`t stall, although it did drop revs slightly at the point when disconnected and reconnected. This I assume means the maf is working ok.I have checked the throttle housing and although a little oily it was fairly clean.
From cold the car can be a bit sluggish to get going so I generally let it warm up on the driveway and once warm it runs fine untill the stalling problem starts, has anyone any ideas?
Thanks

as regards the free revving (by itself) check your OVP (over voltage relay)

search the forums for it

sometimes the contacts on it become loose/worn out, i had the problem, removed the OVP and cleaned all the contacts and reinserted it, havnt seen the problem since.

as regards the sluggishness, perhaps it needs a service (spark plugs/oil etc)

cheers

Could also check the crank angle sensor perhaps if cleaning the relay doesn't help? Unless it's been changed recently of course but might be worth looking at. It's a reasonably cheap replacement and if hasn't been already been done in the past 60-80k miles is probably worth changing anyways just to be sure.

Cheers,
Mark
