Hi,
Can anyone help me please?
I purchased my car last Thursday and after 3 days I heard a rattle when starting up from cold!
Same noise as my old bmw n47 engine had!
Is there any garages that will tell me 100% if the full chain kit is needed. Dealer i bought from wants it diagnosis before issuing a full refund or paying for it fixing. I've been quoted 590 but it sounds too good to be true at that price!

Worth getting chain and tensioner done? I domt know if uts better to give it back and get a full refund. Only had it 3 days always happens to me

Not started it for 3 days and started it up today yet no noise!! Baffled!

You could do with some research on the cam chain. If lucky it's just the tensioner and replacing that might be enough.
It could be a stretched chain and worn gears though, and that should be engine out job 'if' the gears are worn.

If it is repaired by a seller who thinks it's worth chancing a cheaper repair while more should be done then you have the issue ahead of you.

Unless you get an independent inspection of the components you wont know.

I do 300 miles + per week. I think I'm not going to risk it and be worrying if its been repaired properly or not! Gutted tbh as its my first mercedes and I love it...
