C220 CDI W203 Unbalanced Saddle Tank problem

Hi Folks, hope someone can help.

After coming to a halt and unable to restart. Checked fuel pump, lines etc discovered driver side of ‘saddle’ fuel tank empty but passenger side near full. Syphoned some fuel over and hey presto! The beast started. Anyone got an idea what’s going on here and how to stop it happening again. CONFESSION: used some bio-fuel recently (the very weak version), could this be the cause in some way?

I think there is a pump in there that adjusts /levels the fuel amount in each side.. it may be down..

there are two modded sensors for the 203 to stop this happening, not cheap but sorts out the problem!

Don't know about anyone else's experience, but I bought some bio diesel for my steam cleaner the other day, as they had run out of red. It has been left in a 25l barrel for 3 or 4 weeks, and there is a layer about 3 inches thick of a jelly like substance in the bottom. Can't be good in your tank, surely???

Thanks for comments

to Extractorfan; there's def no pump in there (it's at front of engine).

To Colechelle; can u describe 'modded sensors' please

To Uncle Benz; as indicated, it wasn't pure Bio and I've put in loads of ordinary diesil since.

You have a primer pump on the o/s, the main pressure pump, fills the n,s when in use, there are two modded senders, one for each side, after reading your first thread again i would say the main pressure pump is not returning any fuel to the n,s!!!

Thanks Colechelle.

Just checked; fuel is returning to n/s tank, I've had a clear tube on 'return line' and watched it flow. Also, been into tanks again and the n/s compartment is filled up again and o/s is near empty.

When u say "you have a primer pump on the o/s". Do you mean within o/s compartment of tank and by the word pump, do you a electro/mechanical device pushing fuel?

As indicated earlier; I've been into tanks and the only wires are to fuel gauge sensors. And the 2 pumps (low & high presuure) are situated at the front of engine.

Also, I dont understand 'modded' do u mean modified?
