- C220 CDi AvantGarde Saloon • Auto Diesel • Year2000
Hi All,
I've had my C220 cdi avantgarde diesel year 2000, for just over a month,
myself and the previous owner had a cold start problem,
1st turn of the key, it started and dies instantly,
then it could take 20-30 or more turns of the key before it starts (or flattens the battery).
Once started and warmed up, it would start first time for the whole of the day,
But Overnight, in a garage, the problem resurfaced.
Also, occasionally it would not rev over 3000rpm.
One Injector had been replaced, and the other 3 had a stone hard lava like residue all around them.
Checking on the forums gave me about 7 or 8 possible causes:
From memory?:
MAF
level crankshaft sensor
air in fuel line (s)
faulty injector (s)
Injector leaking off
faulty glowplug (s)
Pressure relief valve
Flap Motor
I found a Diesel Electric Mechanic in Edmonton from recommendation,
and he felt for sure that it was a lack of compression problem.
So he cleaned up the residue around the Injectors and refitted, reseated?, resealed them and replaced the MAF.
The car has started first time for the last 5 days,
Happy? you betcha.
Hope this is of help to others
