I have a curious but stupid question if anyone could answer. The fuel flap on my 97 C230 Sport. Is there supposed to be a lever or something to open it? I ask because the only way to open seems to be to stick something in the side and flip it open as there is no raised finger hole etc. The car did not come with a manual and sometimes these things are hidden away and yet right in front of you. Sorry in advance if this seems a silly question. Thank you.

Make sure the central locking is "open". Then press on the end of the flap which is toward the front of the car and the flap should open from the back. If it is reluctant, worth lubricating the pivot points, but I have never known that to be necessary.

Mine opens by pressing in the rear of the flap

Well my 3 all open the other way - so there!

I guess you use yours more than I use mine though?

I think that you were facing the other way Alex when you tried yours, the advantage of have it front hinged is that when you drive away with the pump hose still in the tank it does not damage the flap:D;)

We must compare notes when we meet up. I am sure we are describing the same thing in different ways!

When the flap is open, standing behind the car you see the inside (tyre pressures).

Yes correct and that puts the hinge towards the front, and you press at the boot end, still the OP has filled up now.

I have a picture of a nice lady in mine :cool:

You would think that if you answered some 50k post that this would have been asked before, but this was a first ;):D

Hi Malcolm,

Just got out of the bath-covered in grease and oil as i was helping Brian with his engine mountings. Got my hands clean though, when i pealed the potatoes. Other than that, very well thank you.
Hope to see you again at another meet
Mrs Brian
