Hi - I have a C240, year 2000. I have an intermittent fault - I put the key into the ignition and it doesn't release the electric steering lock. If I disconnect the battery and wait a few minutes, then reconnect, it is working again. Also, the central locking sometimes fails at the same time (same cure). Anyone any ideas? Thanks.

Hello,
Try replacing the key fob batteries first. if no better than your electronic igntion switch is the most likley cause. they are fairly common to play up, and a new one is required. it will need to be coded and must come with a factory "green key" which holds all the cars codes and info data which when inserted into the switch downloads this info.

As Elsey Tanners, it will be the DAS lock at fault, the batteries should not make any difference to the DAS part
