Could anybody possibly help?

I own a C250 (P Reg) and quite recently I have had problems starting same.

Battery goes flat before it even fires.

Cleaning the fuel filter I noticed that it was only partially full of fuel.

If I topped the filter up, the engine soon starts

My knowledge of Engines is Limited but I have been thinking (Iknow this is dangerous) Could it be the 'Lift Pump' that is allowing fuel to drain back?

Is there an easy solution or do I have to take out a 2nd Mortgage and take it to a Main Dealership for repair

Thanks for taking the time to help. I have had the thread you gave me confirmed by a local garage and my car is booked in. Hope it works

Just a thought but I wonder if you still have 'summer' diesel in your tank? My Discovery diesel took ages to start the other day when normally it starts first time. A neighbour who works in the oil industry suggested I go and fill the tank up with fresh stuff and problem solved. The 'winter' diesel has an additive added to stop it waxing up during this cold weather.

Cheers
