C250 Glowplugs

I have recently bought a 1998 C-250 td, it starts fine but for 40 seconds after the engine starts the glowplug light continues to stay on even tho the engine has already starterd, i assume this is a fault sign that one or more glow pulgs are not working, is this asumsion correct?? thanks

Assumption correct.
Find the glowplug relay (on LH inner wing? a black box about 2x4x4 inch), unplug the wires to the engine and test each plug for about 0.9-1.5 ohms.
Take great care not to snap off the head of the dud plug when you try to extract it.
