Hi all
I have seen mentioned in the manual something about a reserve tank. Do they just mean the fuel left in the tank after the low fuel light comes on? Also, does anyone have an idea how much fuel is left in the tank when the light comes on on my `98 c250.
Thanks
Gary

I've always taken it as the amount of fuel left after the light comes on. There's no point in MB actually fitting 2 fuel tanks.

I don't know the reserve for sure but I usually figure about 10 litres in a 60 litre tank. Sound right anybody?
The later cars have a reserve fuel 'distance left to travel' feature which is great. (But you have to realise that it is indicating reserve distance only if the present journey conditions don't change). For example mine might say 100 miles left on a motorway trip - so remaining fuel at 10litres, roughly 2 gallons = about right at 45 plus mpg.
Edit note: posted after Wireman so we seem to agree.

Mine (124) takes 61 litres to fill from lamp on + the odd short journey, the tank is supposed to be 70 litres. I have not yet dared to run it dry and find out for real.

Hi
My ML 270 Owners Manual states 70 lts including reserve fuel of 12 lts
So I would expect the reserve light to show at around 58 lts
But I filled tank to the neck on Monday and Tuesday without
The reserve light showing with 63 lts & 65 lts respectively
That’s a difference of more than 5 lts & 7 lts respectively

Owner’s Manual states “only fill the fuel tank till the pump
Nozzle switches of” so there is some discrepancy there

So I recon that it must hold more that 70 lts

my c180 is 7 ltrs reserve. I try to fill up before the light comes on as you may start to drag cr*p from the bottom of the tank if the car is getting on a bit.
