Hi
I have just bought my first mercedes, and so far I think it was a good choice. I have just had the spanner come up to indicate a service is due, & accoding to the haynes manual, it should say "service A" or "service B" on the display. Mine doesn`t, is it just another haynes slip up? Its a 1998 C250 turbodiesel.
Thanks
Gary

Hi
One spanner means A service.

Early C class and CLK class cars only ever show one spanner on the ASSYST display, A or B service is then determined by mileage

Sorry, looks like I didn't make myself clear. Early C class and CLK class cars never show more than one spanner which merely indicates that a service is required. Whether it is A or B is determined by the mileage. As a general rule A and B sevices alternate but if more than 13,750 miles have elapsed since a B service then MB dealers will maintain that another B service is required.

Later cars displayed one or two spanners on the ASSYST display to indicate the service required.

Your 1998 car will only ever show a single spanner.
