C250 TD top speed 80mph?

Hi,

I've a C250TD 1997, the car seems to working ok, but the top speed just 80mph, can anyone tell me why could this be? We have replaced the air intake pipe for the intercooler, was broken, still the same, but has a bit more power on low gears. Help me please!

Have you changed fuel filters large & small, my 250d does 115, Hope this helps

Hi,

What do you mean by "count round", the rpm meter? If so, it is stuck at 3000, by that time.

Yes so your engine is put in safety mode.
You need to check your air filter.

The air filter just been replaced a week ago. By the way on lower speed it's going up to 4-5000 rpm. Could this be caused by low transmission fluid level, as I read something about it somewhere else?

i have just bought a mercedes S320cdi, year 2002, auto. it drives ok but when i stop or reverse it smoke a hell of a lot of black smoke. very very embarrasing,,,,,,,,,,,,, but when im driven it dont smoke,,,,,,,,, when im in full stop and i change it to N or P it dont smoke.
Anyone can help me with this.

Speed limiter

Has your car got a Cruise control ? If so it may have a speed LIMITER as well, you can set this to limit the speed on a temporary basis or it can be set on a (semi) permenant basis. If you look in the handbook you will find out how to remove the option, or let me know and I will write the method in this blog.

my manual c250 TD used to do about 130! the limiter on the cruise control stalk has on orange light lit up on the stalk when its set to operate and an orange light in the speedo saying LIM lights up (or it does on my 210) the limiter (on mine at least) doesnt operate untill you alter the speed setting again once the ignition has been turned off and on again, but the orange light on the stalk stays on to tell you its available. to switch it on or off, just press inwards on the end of the stalk, similar to operating windscreen washers, and the speed its set to can be moved up or down in 5mph increments using the up/down for the cruise control and if you pull it or push it towards/away from you it alters the speed by 1mph at a time! cant remember which way it is, and i dont know if it lowers or raises the speed now. i almost never use the limiter!

If it has more power now with the lower gears ............ try using the higher ones ............. traditionally, top speed is best achieved with these ..........particulaly 4th and 5th !!

Thanks for the replys, I have cruise control . but it doesn't work. The LIM does lit only, when I turn on the ignition, the it goes off. I also found that the car is ok till about 60mph, then no power, like there were no turbo at all. The intake pipes, fuel filter, air filter has been replaced. No change. Got p1470 error code from reading saying something about some turbo wastegate regulator valve, or something like that. Where is that and what is it, how could I chack, if that's the problem?

Hi,

Yes, I have cruise control and it doesn't work. The light is not on, but I can turn it to on, doesn't make any difference.
Some update, since we have replaced the air intake pipes, we also did the air and fuel filters and still no difference. I took it to a garage and did a diagnostic on it, got error code P1470- turbocharger wastegate regulator valve, my mechanic thinks, that could cause this issue, I have. What a heck is that valve at all, can it be replaced, or what do I do now? Any help will be appreciated. I don't really wanted to buy a new turbocharger for €1000 or so.
