C270 CDI Avantgarde Estate

The above on a 52 2002 plate 84k miles.

Priced at £9k any thoughts on that price? what problems, issues and weaknesses to look out for.

In my opinion the price is a bit to high, does it have warranty?? Private sale then way to much. Service history?? Abnormal wear on tyres? "Play" the gearbox thru manual and auto selection. Check the threads on this forum for radiators, there were and are problems.
Good point is the estates were manufactured in Germany and many consider the build quality better.

Is it due a glow-plug replacement? These can cause problems.

Thanks for the response. It is being sold by a local garage, has some form of warranty, possibly one of those useless insurance jobs, has a full service history and they will negotiate!

Have not seen any 'paperwork' as yet or really inspected closely other than a quick once over and thanks for the tips.

and check the drive/fan belt......a sod to get to and replace

Check if it has
Mobilo still in place. It needs an MB service history but it can be useful.

Check air con,

Turbo [there were a few problems on these],

Transmission, [fluid change due 65k],

Knocks, radiator [if its a Valeo and not been replaced it should be done even if it looks ok, but check date for this problem]

agree with all the above but the one all have forgotten about is the CATS block as well, a lot of money!!!

Thanks for all this chaps (and chapesses if it applies!) I have had a good look round the car and whilst it is a 'good example' and no obvious signs of rust etc there is no service record - AT ALL - it appears it was 'lost' so I have walked away.

Large cars are not holding their price so hunt around.
