C300 Coupe Prem+ (2017)
Picked up my C300 Coupe on the 24th March 2016 from Brentford, London (could do with a lesson in CS).

Upon pick up we were notified that there was an issue with the 'locking back' of the passenger seat. Although it went back into place correctly, the sensor thought otherwise so dash warning were appearing. Wasn't the start we were after and to then find out it was a 6 week lead time for new parts wasn't great.

A few weeks after (mid April '16) the boot wouldn't shut. On investigation, the bracket that I think houses the gas chamber for self opening/closing gas cell (I think that is what its for) came loose on the left side. so it was booked in for the following week. In the lead up to it being seen, we left it outside the flat, went out to it in the evening to find the boot open on its own accord. Luckily nothing was stolen. It was picked up that night as a matter of urgency due to security issues (enter the car through the boot etc...)

The above was then fixed, or so we thought...

Last week the non-closing of the boot issue returned, 2 weeks after it was last in. Exact same problem as before. Arm of the boot lid was hitting the loose gas chamber bracket. It is currently with Mercedes, has been since the 5th May '16. Apparently a rivet had come loose. Seat is now finally getting fixed.

Are there any 2016 model C Class Coupe owners on here experiencing similar problems?

Cheers,

sometimes theyre not even THAT good!

besides, Fords now are pretty well built, I have to say (I know how much they have improved, ive had more than my share of them!)

it seems that whilst everyone else has been improving, MB have, in the last 20 years, had a stage of stagnation or even going backwards in some respects. '98-05 (or thereabouts) registered cars can rust like a '70s Fiat. so they sorted that issue, and now they have electronics like the French cars of the '90s/2000s and 80s Alfas, which were temperamental, at best. and it really is a shame as MB do make some GREAT cars BUT they seem to have become complacent during the 80s and 90s and concentrated on gadgets to fit in the cars (that will be seldom, if ever used by most people) rather than keeping up the quality. and even then they were always slow to grasp new technology such as DAB radios (optional on a £30k c class in 2012 I believe, but standard in a £12k ford fiesta!)

The cynic might even say that making it an option is more fincial viable than fitting it as standard ... same could be said of many other things that you might find standard on other cars too

very true but as theyre increasingly acquired new on lease terms of varying sorts (rather than bought like in the 'old' days) most wont have the options boxes ticked id imagine, so will seem very basic in comparison

Hi GCT C300,

I've got exactly the same problem with the boot my new C 200 Coupe. Took it in to Mercedes Newcastle who "fixed" it, but the problem has recurred after a week. Have you got yours sorted yet ?

Regards, Ian

My C300 Coupe had the same boot problem. It is a plastic strap that holds the motor at an angle and is free to slide though rubber grommet that allows some movement of the assembly. It pulls out and allows motor to drop and push boot lining onto hinge arm. it can be pushed back in but will wear rapidly once it starts and repeatedly fail'
There is now a redesigned strap with a circlip to stop the strap pulling out. I had to wait a month for parts to arrive from Germany but problem now fixed.

Hi Jim,

Got mine back now ok - fixed by having had a "modified component" fitted. It looks like they've sorted out the problem.

Cheers,

Ian
