Hi,

I find the satnav most difficult and annoying. Unlike our C220, the C300 does not accept post codes, and being no key pad it takes a while to type in an address and search. Tried to type in Fairford as going tomorrow. It adds a comma after Fairford which obviously does not exist. Cannot delete back one space as all deleted! Why? I don't want to go to the town, it is miles away, I want the airfield for which I have a post code. I cannot even add my home to the stored locations, it does not accept it. I have the local pub as home. Is it some sort of copyright that has made Mercedes ruin a previously very good satnav, I wonder? Changing the radio station is a pain in the backside too!

Which version of sat nav do you have? I've had Comand and Garmin in Mercedes and both have accepted postcode input

Hi, it is the factory fitted one which I believe is Command.

Just checked the online manual (always a good place to start!) and it does appear that it’s all done by address search. You must have the MBUX system which is new but I have no personal experience of that.

Hi, it is the factory fitted one which I believe is Command.

What year is your C300? Mine is 2020, so not quite the current model, but I have the same problem as you, apparently no postcode input. To set the satnav for a hotel in France that I've stayed at many times before, the thing wouldn't accept the street address at all. The hotel is number two, the first place in the road, but apparently the boundary has been redrawn so that the hotel has moved from being the last place in one area to being the first place in the next, it's on the north coast of Brittany, used to be in Urville Nacqueville, but now it's La Hague, confusing, and I blame Macron trying to deter UK tourists. I sorted this out do going to map view, moving and enlarging until I could click on the exact spot where I knew the hotel to be to save it, and then cancelled route guidance and checked "previous destinations". It showed the hotel, same street address, and same postcode, but the next area. So, go to map view, you might have to check your almost 400 page handbook, find your airfield by scrolling the map and click on that, cancel route guidance and go to previous destinations, you'll find it there for evermore WITH THE POSTCODE, that impostant detail that Comand wouldn't let you input yourself at the beginning.

Another thought - use the map in the Mercedes Me app and “send to car”. Works about 50% of the time for me.

For me it works 80% of the time, one can also send Google maps to the car.

If you save a location in my Comand NTG4 (either by being there or from using the map as mentioned), then select that from "Destination - Last destinations" but instead of clicking Start you go down 1 to Save, Save With Name, Work, then give it a name and clisk Done. Works for me!

I have a 2021 GLC300 and it definitely takes post codes, it’s an MBUX system.

OP doesn’t have NTG4 but the newer and “better” MBUX!

OK then should be the same as OP's C class. How do you enter post codes?

Nav from page 278

You can enter a destination as a 3 word address from what3words https://what3words.com/slurs.this.shark

its mostly about spying on you these days...

Entering a destination
Requirements:
- For online search: an Internet connection is established .
- Mercedes me connect is available.
- You have set up a user account in the Mercedes me Portal.
- The vehicle is connected with the user account and you have accepted the terms of use

Overview of software updates
Important software updates may be necessary for the security of your multimedia system's data. Install these updates, or else the security of your multimedia system cannot be ensured. The multimedia system displays a corresponding message when a software update is available. If the Automatic online update option is active, software updates are downloaded automatically. If the option is deactivated, you will be informed of new software updates once. The software updates are available for downloading for a limited period of time.

Carrying out a software update:
- You can start online software updates via the communication module.
- You can start software updates via a Wi-Fi hotspot.
- You can start map updates from an external media

To complete software updates via the communication module, the vehicle must be connected with the Internet and a Mercedes me user account.

- To complete software updates via Wi-Fi, the vehicle must be connected to an external Wi-Fi hotspot. A software update consists of three steps:
- Downloading or copying of the data required for installation
- Installation of the downloaded software update
- Activation of the downloaded software update.

It may be necessary to restart the MBUX multimedia system after completion of a software update.
While some software updates are being downloaded, the multimedia system cannot be operated and the vehicle functions may be restricted.
Some software updates require a safe vehicle status for the installation to be completed. They may only be carried out in a safely parked vehicle with the ignition switched off.
For software updates requiring a safe vehicle status: when the last installation step is reached, a message appears in the central display after the ignition is switched off. Follow the step-by-step instructions in the central display to complete the installation.

It’s just a matter of getting used to it, select the field ‘Where To’ or something similar, this brings up an ability to enter address or POI, simply type your post code into this field.

For home address provided you have downloaded your phone book simply say ‘Hey Mercedes take me home’ or say ‘Hey Mercedes, navigate to contact and say your own name.

I use iPhone but surmise other phones would be similar.
