C32 stuck in gear

Does any one have any idea of what is wrong with my car:

The engine management light is on and the car will not change up or down gear. The car has been sticking in gear for a couple of weeks, but turning off and on again always cleared it?

If needs work does any know of independent dealer in/near Camberley area to carry out the work, don't fancy £100 an hour labour rates.

When you say stuck in gear, any idea which gear or could it be any? Do you mean it won't kick down or change with tiptronic shift? Does it do it anytime, or only after a long uphill?? How many miles on your car?

Feels like 2nd as can do 40-50 reaching 3000-3500rpm. No kick down and will not allow access to tiptronic. Problems occurs from start up. Car has just reached 70000 on a 51 plate

Mmmmm. Restriction to second gear is to get you to the dealer. You certainly need to have the fault code memory interrogated as a first port of call. I would advise you to either find a specialist or get it to a dealer right away.

Try John Griffiths in Reading, 01189 482953. I've been there for years, v. helpful.

Hi Andy I had worked it out to be the choice of 2 cars and I got the right one the 265.

As Uncle Benz says there is nothing much here that one can do,everthing is fault code related, and on both fault codes that could be displayed there are a further 7 options within that code, an indie as recomended or its MB sorry about this.

Up date on fault, MB assist came out today and said in was battery, changed it and everything A ok, who would of thought a battery could cause all these problems. At least there is one benfit from paying MB servicing charges- MB assist!

So pleased it is fixed, nice to know the reason too. Now to convince someone else that the battery could cause it.
