Hi, I have a problem with the smooth transition from Electric running to Petrol. When I start in Hybrid mode, I can run on electric only but when the time comes to kick over to petrol, there's a surge forward and the Malfunction warning appears. Then it is difficult to get back from petrol to electric. I am now being told that I have to get a new starter motor but this seems crazy for a 2017 car. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome!

Sorry to hear this I’m assuming the car is just out of warranty. Might be worth doing a search on the forum/internet for this fault I’m sure it’s been mentioned on here

My advice would be to keep up the MB warranty on these cars hybrids can be expensive to maintain I personally wouldn’t run one without

Thanks Malcolm that sounds like good advice. It was imported from UK to Ireland and now I hear that although it would have three year warranty in UK it only has two in Ireland. In any case it is just out of the 3 years!

It would be worth asking for a contribution from MB towards the cost of the repair especially as the car is only 3 years old I assume it has FMBSH, I certainly would, a lot of members on here have had a 30%+ contribution cite not fit for purpose in discussions with them

C350e but not for long.....
I have the exact same problem with my C350e. Other symptoms are that when it's cruising at 60mph on electric if you try to accelerate it's just sitting on electric and won't switch off, but weirdly, the tacho says the engine has started. What I'm struggling to understand is how this could be the starter? I believe everyone - I just don't understand it. There are no errors on mine and Start shows clear of all faults. 46k on a 66 plate.

Kevin, did a new starter fix it and if so how much did MB screw for that?

I'm wondering if it as simple as the starter, could I simply chop a new one in using:

Seems too good to be true. I was charged £60 for Star diagnostics to say nowt was wrong!!
