I have only had my CLK convertible a couple of days and already the local cats are using it as a hamock! How can I legally persude them to leave it alone?

Stop rubbing cat nip on it ;-) Water pistols can work and you can probably get some smelly substance that they don't like.

You could consider a shotgun but I dare say it would mess up the fabric in the process and blood is a bugger to get out of roof material.

So, maybe a lawn sprinkler and a timer ....

Joking aside, you can buy sprays of something to discourage cats from pet shops. I bought some doggie type stuff for a run my dogs were a little too fond of and it worked a treat.

cats don't like citrus fruits,
see if you can get a citrus spray and apply a small amount to the roof,
(make sure its one you like though):)

Lion poo

is supposed to work a treat, but it could be a bit tricky getting the lion off afterwards. Unless Jberks and his Elmer Fudd gun are around at the time......

There are various very effective ultrasound devices which emit a signal that annoys cats but humans cannot hear it. No mess. Keeps them out of your garden too.

I had the same problem - I tried chillie powder, worked a charm but left brown marks on the top :-(

Settled in the end for some think plastic over the roof and in the top of the windows both sides. They really hate sitting on plastic.

My plan c was a riffle. Although the owner of the cats was a police officer, so that was probably a bad idea, luckily I sold the car before it became nessesary.

From experience, the only thing that works is to "educate" the cats with a decent water pistol (soaker). It doesn't harm the cat, but they absolutely hate getting wet. It may take a while for the message to sink-in but they get it in the end.....

Agree. Its the only thing that worked for me. It helps that my car is parked right outside my office window so any exploring feline got a soaking as soon as it climbed aboard. Took nearly 3 months before ALL the neighbourhood cats got the message. By eck, that grey tabby was thick.

Years ago When I was agency nursing, one particular place I used to go to there was a cat that would jump on my bonnet almost as soon as I got out the car  the car had a really good alarm system on it, so I adjusted the sensitivity to the max, so as soon as the paws hit the bonnet the alarm went off and so did the cat! It soon got the message to stay away

I had the same problem, so I bought an animal scarer, its a harmless ultrasonic device. Since I put that up, next doors cat has left me alone.

"By eck, that grey tabby was thick" must be a Chav of the pussie world .

Chicken skin soaked in antifreeze works permanantly (its sweet and cats love it) They all go to pussie heaven never to return .

DONT TRY THIS AT HOME FOLKS AS ITS VERY EFFECTIVE.
