Can any dealer give me a good answer as to why Merc are cutting down on their numbers. I would have thought that with the popularity of the A class more dealers, not less, will be needed
Yes Stan, I can tell you why they are cutting Dealers. Greed. DCUK have to increase their profitability, so they are going to take the big urban sites for themselves, and go to "Hub" dealers controlling large areas of country "spokes". Thus they can save on field staff, which they can cust by about 50% also. So a customer has even less chance of seeing "the man from the factory". There will still be outlets in most towns, just that they will be departments of an HQ somewhere else. I think we all know how a McDonalds compares with a Restaurant. That is the analogy.
