Hello,

Finally, I change my mind about new cars and get a decision to buy an older, in my opinion, a better car than the new Volvo or other plastic brands. My main choice is CL 500 from 2006-2009 but regarding what I read on forums there is a lot of bad information.
Due to a problem where I live and queue to MB service is very very long just to check the car, I decided to put the car up alone and check it by computer codes. There were no bad codes in the system.
I found some small leakage on the left and right side of the car but it looks like new oil so someone who was changing oil he can pure it out.
I don't see any leakage from the suspension. There is a whole book from the beginning of the car. Before owners, they changed the oil in the gearbox every 60.000km

Some numbers and information about a car that I found:
The car has 173.000 km
VIN: WDD2163711A002203
Model CL 500
Engine 273961 30 085105
Transmission 722904 00 934673
Order Number 0 6 290 07555
Order Location COMPANY EMPLOYEE
Interior LEATHER/NAPPA/SEMI-ANILINE - BLACK/ANTHRACITE (801A)
Paint 1 OBSIDIAN BLACK (197U)
Release Date 2006-10-17
Delivery Date 2006-10-23

So the number of engine it looks like it had problems with the timing chain, and some leakage am I right?
What you guys suggest checking before a buy that kind of car, what I can do alone?
Or maybe better to wait and check it in MB service?
I'm ready for the first paying to fix the car like changing the oil in suspension, and everything that is needed but I'm a little afraid about changing the whole suspension whole engine or problems that I will not be able to drive the car because the place where I live I don't have other communication than a car ;)

Thanks for any advice!

Hello and welcome!

I don’t think that the M273 engine has timing chain problems.

The ABC system will need a fluid flush and replace. You will need 12 litres of Pentosin CHF.11S fluid (can buy online- look for best deals, should be no more than €11/ litre). This is the same as you will buy from Mercedes.

You will also need a new filter. On the 216 vehicle the filter is built into the ABC header tank but can be removed. In Europe the filter on its own is not available, but it is in the USA if you search carefully.
