Well at last the moment arrived today, and waking up this morning I felt like a 6 year old child on Christmas morning!
I drove across to Doncaster to exchange my car, deposit some funds into the garage's account, and pick up my CL600. The massage seats have been fixed, as has the rear blind, car nicely polished and valetted, and then for a nice drive back to Liverpool.
After a search for a new motor, which included amongst others an Aston Martin Vantage, Bentley Continental, Range Rover Vogue and BMW X6, the decision to opt for the CL was definitely a wise one. And ok, it then became my intent to go for a CL500, but then after experiencing the CL63, it's with much thanks that Malcolm put me right about the CL600, and perhaps that may be the one to tick all the boxes for me........and how right he was!
The performance and acceleration is something else, especially for something so big, and while retaining such luxurious comfort, there can't be many cars out there that can compete. The drive back home was predominantly motorway, but some A and B roads too, where I did put it through it's paces, but after the 100 mile journey the car gave me an average of 16.8mpg. I suppose that's not too bad really.
I still feel there could be an issue in terms of a little rumbling at times, whether engine mounts or a misfiring cylinder? But I'll go with it for a bit, see how it goes, and maybe take it to a local specialist to have a quick look.
The salesman couldn't figure how to pair my phone to the bluetooth device, which was disappointing, but the car was bought from a Jaguar dealership, so I will forgive him that, and their service has been excellent. But I'll take a look through the manual to figure that, or failing it, perhaps seek some further advice here.
All in all, definitely the right decision to go for the CL, and fuel bills apart, the right decision to opt for the 600. I've test driven a few 500's and C63's, been extremely cautious, steering clear of anything I've just felt not right, and again it was definitely worth biding my time until both my head and my heart were telling me "this is the one". And guess what........this is the one!
And finally, after a rather long thread I'd like to thank everyone who has contributed to my post with their advice and experience of CL's, it's been much appreciated!
Oh, and come the weekend I'll post a few photographs of the car.
Cheers,
Mark.
