My CLK ( new shape- no 'B' pillar) has developed rattles in both doors at about shoulder level. It has spent a day with a dealer in an attempt to sort it out but with no success. It is going back to the dealer for a further attempt to fix - possibly for 2 days. Current thinking is that the seat belt mechanism could be the problem. The window fittings have been checked. Have any of you experienced anything similar and found an answer ?

That is unusual.
rattles are a hard task to cure as the sound from rattle can be projected around the cabin to give you a kind of fake source of the rattle.
Fot both sides to be the same seems extra odd.
I would (maybe) suggest the rattle is coming from another source or is being somehow trasmitted up through a connecting piece from somewhere else.
This doesnt help I know, but heh ho.

No idea, but bottom line is that it's not your problem (it's warranty). Make sure they give you a nice loan car and tell them to keep it as long as necessary. They can strip it down and road test until they locate the source. If not sure, strip further until you can put your finger on the cause. Basic old fashioned diagnostics..
