Hi there all
Just looking at getting a CLK 230K and just wanted some info on it, does it have specific times to change and belts, being timing or charger belts?
Does it need a charger rebuild at a perticular date or mileage?

Any other info you think is worth knowing then please let us know.

Thanks Steve

Timing chain so no worries there. There is no MB set time/mileage for kompressor belts. Just have a good look & see if they're cracked. They are not expensive to buy & replace anyway. If it's a 111 type engine (later ones are 271, check on logbook), then check if the camshaft adjuster magnet is leaking oil from the wiring connector.

Thanks for that. It's a 2001 model so guessing it;s the later engine.
also most seem to be a auto/tip. I'm looking at manuals, anything I should know as why there is't many around ? Really didn't get on with my tip box in my old audi

Your Mercedes

I have a manual W208 since '98. One waterpump, bushings, steering shock that's all, plus regular services off course!

I like the manual in the CLK it is much more fun to drive. (I have a W210 autobox as well) You just have to get used to the parking brake. It is a foot brake and starting uphill you have to use the clutch. I still have the first clutch, so, with 98000 mls on the clock and I am sure I will do another 98k with the same.

No rust, yet! Still looks and feels like the new CLK I bought nearly ten years ago!

Cheers guys,
I'll keep looking for a manual then as there doesn't seem to be any major problems with them, and hopefully get one soon and start enjoying it
