Hello all,

My car is now due a service and I was wondering if there was anything specific that needs to be done at 60k miles (well 56 actually but it'll be another year till it's over 60).

It's a 1999 model.

Thanks.

I forgot to mention that it's an A service. Also what oil is recommended here? as my service book shows that each garage has used a different oil on every single service (Duckhams,Shell,Mobil).

Thanks.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
If you have no record of it ever being done i would give the gearbox an oil and filter change (only use MB fluid), and renew the brake fluid.
Check out the DIY section and grease the wiper mechanism as this can be very expensive and seems quite common problem on Mercedes fitted with single wiper.
Has the oil that has been used synthetic? If so use Mobil 1 as recommended by MB.
Is this the first time its been serviced in your ownership? Is the history MB?

Hi,

It has fsh, and according to the history - the gearbox oil & filter haven't been done or the brake fluid. The last service was Mobil 1 but I forget what the others were. This will be my first service as it had a 'B' service when I bought it and the history is MBMD and Independant Specialist (as will mine be) as I intend to keep it a long time and don't see the point in MD servicing when the car is nearly Ten years old and I'll have it way beyond that.

I was just wondering if there were any major things that would need to be addressed at this mileage.........I guess it's not too bad.

Does anyone know what the servicing intervals are by the way?

Thanks.

Re plug change comment

Daves E55 AMG,

Hi,
My plugs were changed on my W208 CLK320 at 32k four years on the car has now done 57k, Would you recommend having them changed again because of time scale rather than milage.

The car is running fine no power loss or misfires.

My Indie has quoted £200 to replace them

Your comments apreciated,

Johno

MIght as well get them done at the dealer then as they work out at £180 plus fitting at an Indie. At £200 at the dealer I would have thought it a good price.
