Hi Chaps...

I have a CLK 55 AMG 208,

I have only had it a few weeks & have noticed if i give it full throttle it seems to miss, Yet if i go slow up the reves its ok ?? :-?

seems fuel related rather than electrical.

On stand still it reves freely to 4,000 no problem

It's just had a Sevice B yesterday including plugs & the problem is still there...

Any ideas

Cheers Gaz:(

take it back to whoever serviced it and tell them to have another go. :)

Most problems seem related to the MAF sensor. Have a look on the forum there are lots of posts on how to clean or replace it.

sounds electrical to me plugs or ignition breaking down under extreme load IF it was a fuel delivery problem i think the ECU would notice that and you would not get a misfire but just be lacking in ultimate performance OF COURSE i could be totally wrong he he BACK to the clown who serviced it or if the car is just a few weeks old whoever supplied it assuming you did not get it privately

Gaz said the problem still there, that means it was nothing to do with the service,as it was there before it went in.

Hi ,
Like you said may be fuel related.... i had sl320 misfiring because of the fuel, was contaminated. take a sample out of the car and see if it has anything in it...
Or try some fuel injection cleaner cant do no harm. Merc engines are very sensative to dirty fuel.

actually having wrote all that i realised that if it was fuel you should get it all the time... sorry.... try coil packs and make sure leads on correct..

oh silly silly me i 'thought' putting you car into the stealers meant it came out with all the problems fixed - what a novel idea - BUT surely all the issues 'identified' that is the least i would expect - that surely is not asking for too much - is it?

Don't be horrible David, there are two ways to this. Did the car go for a service including the new plugs, and it was expected that the fault would have been fixed doing the service.
Or did the car go in because there were problems and have the B service done at the same time.

I read the starter thread as "just had a B service, and problem still there".
I have had things brought into me for a repair, only to fix that fault and they come back saying that it is doing X. well if I did not know, and if they did not tell me,its hard cheese, I used to fall for it once, but no more.

well i was not being horrible when i was a MV technician a long long time ago the last thing we did was a full road test after the car was coming out of the workshop at the end of the owners listed work - for sure i would find a few things wrong that the owner had not reported - you do get used to your car that you drive every day and dont notice how things degrade - and then we were on the phone to them with a cost for the work seeking permission to carry out the work. While i did work for RR and as the junior technicial guy who loved playing with 'different cars' 75% of my work was the RR owners second cars - Mercs Jags Daimlers Jensens BMC stuff VP Princesses old Bentleys and Rollers RR Hearses and yank tanks. I would have expected any decent garage to be testing the cars fully before they handed them back to their customers - not only for customer satisfaction purposes - but to increase their turnover and profit. However my initial experience of the service side of the local MB dealership was disturbing. When i got the SL500 i thought it would be a great idea to have it given the 'full works' by a MB garage. ALL the fluids and all the consumables changed and i mean all and everything given a complete checkover - i was expecting a nice (expensive) list of work needing done at the end of this. So i did ask my local MB dealer about service prices and i was amazed and excited about how cheap they were - but just before booking it in i asked what this entailed i discovered that they give it a quick lick and a promise. I was very disturbed to find out the things that a major service did not include and that i would have to request as a seperate item - with my list the bill (and i was only given an estimate) quadrupled. So like i said i would have expected the road test(er) to discover this 'issue' and report back with a cost/estimate as to what was needing adjusted or replaced hardly rocket science and the minimum i would have expected from a MB dealership.

Hi Guy's to be fair It Wasn't a MB Dealer...

It was the Guy who services my work cars, Non frachised but does a proper service,

I had a feeling he wouldn't be able to fix it but at least i know he has done what i have asked him to do, He didn't have the tool to check the gearbox oil so it will have to go to an indie for that as well.

Because the engine light doesn't come on when it plays up i'm guessing pluging the computer in isn't going to tell them much...

I'll get him to check/Clean the Maf Sensor if it's not that then book it in to an indie to have a look when the change the Gearbox oil...:(

Cheers
