CLK Auto Box ?

Excuse me for being the stupid one here, just got my CLK now, Came with no books etc. Its an Auto, With a switch W/S - What is it for ? Winter/Summer ? Weak/Sport ? :???: Please let me know, Thanks !

Dont worry, i think ive answered my own question - The W/S button on the by the shift selector indicates what mode the transmission is in. "W" means winter and starts the car out in second gear to increase traction. "S" means sport and increases the amount of time (shown to you in RPMs) the car stays in a particular gear. "S" is designed to make the gear ratios taller, therfore adding to performance.

Correct.

On some cars its s- sport and c- comfort but it means and does exactly as you say above.

Not quite, on our car, 1999 CLK W = Winter right enough but S = Standard and allows the car to start off in First.
The Electronic Transmission control fitted is adaptive and and will adjust to your style of driving so if you drive in a "sporty" fashion and hold the gears to higher revs by using more throttle the box will do that normally so giving the Sports style of driving if so desired.

A handbook for the car can be ordered from an MB Dealer and will shed light on all the controls and much more.
