CLK Oil Type

I've already searched the fora, and it looks to me as if Mobil 1 is the oil of choice for all MB (please correct me if I'm wrong), but having just bought this car, I'm obviously not aware of the exact details of it's last service.

I checked the level last night, and it needs a top-up of 1 1/2 litres, so if I just assume that the service was done with Mobile 1, and use the same, would there be any consequences if by chance some other typre of oil had been used before ????

Have you any idea when the oil was changed last? or when it's next due for change? If in doubt and the oil looks mucky I pesonally would change it. If however the last oil change was fairly recent then top up with Mobil 1, when it comes to engines "oil is always better than no oil"

1.5 ltrs is quite a top up. If the car was serviced at MB they do put in the service booklet what type of oil they used. You should be able to check the 'ASSYST' service computer by pressing the top left button on the steering wheel this will tell you when the next service is due and what type of service.
