My 2000 yr model CLK tends to suffer from what seems like either water in the petrol or a fuel filter problem.
What happens is when you start the car it starts first time every time without problems but the engine "pants" - i mean cuts out almost but then comes normal, then cuts out almost again. This may go on for a few minutes as you reverse or idle whilst waiting for people to sit in the car. Once you go off, it seems fine, though sometimes the kompressor seems to be abit slow kicking in. I have been using the car in Southern Ireland for past year or so and wonder if problem is due to the lower quality petrol (tend to use 95) or just a bad Irish rural petrol station. That said, problem has occurred in the UK even after filling up with UK petrol (95 again).
Should I be using something like Shell's Ferrari type petrol once every 3 topups?? Or at least 98 type petrol.
Regards,
CLK Man
