could it be dirt in the injectors? would redex help? any other suggestions??

Dodgy lead, coil pack, even crankshaft sensor, may need a session on the old star diagnostic

If you have a meter you can measure the CPS it should be 1k ohms when good, and into the 100k ohms when bad O/C

thanks for that, just so im not being thick... is the cps the coil pack?
am gonna change the plugs and air filter as cant do any harm.

odd thing is if the car struggles to start if i push the accelerator right down on the second key turn it fires straight up?? runs spot on otherwise

Then this fault is not coils or CPS (crankshaft position sensor)

HI again,

i dont seem to have the breather on mine could that be due to me not having the Kompressor engine?

went to the car this morning pumped the accelerator pedel twice and the car fired up straight away?? could it be something as simple as muck in the tank??

yeah thats what i thought it seems really odd.

the MAF is a Bosch one from Merc - could it be anything to do with the air filter maybe?

So when was it last serviced, new plugs filter etc, have you checked the plugs, theres 12 on your engine, takes about an hour to remove and replace them. MB retail about £90 for the plugs so easily never changed.

Have you had anything else done to the car recently, new exhaust ?? Has your engine been power washed steam cleaned recently?

What mileage ?
Any fuel additives?

hi,

its done 56k and is a 2001 not had any work done to it and no fuel aditives added. last service was at 51 but was abouta year ago.
i changed the fuel filter last weekend and will pop a new air filter and maybe some redex in tomorrow.

could the spark plugs be the problem then with it being a starting issue?
