The SL is a better car IMHO. Best avoid the 280 and go for the 320. Only downsides of the SL is that its a 2 seater and a CLK is a 4seat car so if you have passangers then the CLK is more useful but the SL is the ultimate :D

As st4 really,,in addition the 129 comes with a hard top, and makes it quiet when winter driving, no rust problems, try and go for 08-98 on as the car feature most extra's thrown in as standard, the 08-98 car has 17" wheels, new v6 on the 320 a very nice engine at that, they are fast and good on petrol. No bugs that I can think of

The SL129 all day long, no contest, but as Malc says get the newest one as possible, make sure the roof works ok and the soft top is in good nic.
Though from personnal opinion I would only have the 500 just because of the glorious v8 soundtrack.

There is about 4 to 5 MPG difference Andy,in the the 320 129 that I had and the 500 that I run now, the 500 also has more toys though the one that I had was loaded, the only way I buy car so to have more to go wrong

Have you recovered from the ABC shock? Just think, an oil leak here or there keeps the rust away :D

It all depend on ones view point,it is so slight that it is no problem to me, no drips and jut a tiny bit moist. That is allowable in WIS, I see it like a tap washer that leaks, and that has no bearing on a burst pipe

You'll know when it gives up life and is no longer for this world when the cars cornering goes funny :(
