I was on the motorway over the weekend - 25/26 degrees, Air conditioning on, when I noticed that the gearshift seemed to get stuck around 2200-2500 revs and needed a prod to get moving again, otherwise it would just burble around that point. This issue was present in Manual, Comfort and Sports modes for the gearbox.

However, switching the AC brought some respite - and I wasnt able to replicate the issue. This has never happened to me earlier. Could it be due to the heat and the engine overheating (I know it sounds silly but maybe?).

Any help much appreciated!

Thanks

Hi Timechaser

I take it that this happen on acceleration?

I have heard of this thing happening to a wide range of automatic cars but only when cold. Engine revs and you think you are just stuck in 1st but the cars brain is only trying to warm up the cat.

It could be that you are simply low on fluid but todays new fangled autos have sealed transmissions so there is no way us owners can check the fluid level.

You car isn't that old so unless it has a highish mileage for its age it shouldn't need a transmission service.

The fact that it appeared to cure itself when the air con was off is interesting but I can't think why that would happen. Your engine would have more than enough bhp to cope with powering aircon and coping with an autobox.

The problem with automatic gearboxes is that they are full of hundreds of electrical and mechanical components it is difficult to diagnose the fault without taking it to an Automatic Transmission Specialist.

Keep an eye on it, has it happened since the weekend? If it persists it might be worth taking it to an Automatic Transmission Specialist.
