Hi All,

I test drive a 2005 CLK55 cab today and for the most part it was beautiful. Engine and gearbox felt tight and strong but when I put the roof up i could hear a really annoying buzzing coming from the dash. It wasn't the parking brake cable sound and it wasn't the clicking of the fan on startup as I've had other of those done on my current CLK280. The sound was more of a buzz than a clicking.

It also had a bit of mould on the passenger side rear seat belt and at the top of the windscreen where the roof meets the screen. Is this normal or could it be a leak?

Thanks,

Jack

not sure on the buzzing Jack (just check the trip reset switch though), but the latter issue does sound like a leak, wonder if the car has been a little unloved?

does look nice on the pics...
I see on the plates it was once supplied by Mercland (Jay Manek), it would be worth contacting him for any history he knows of...

You can get mould in a car if its not been used and has been closed up tight for a while. Its easy to get rid of - a little Miltons sterilising fluid sorts it out in no time.

Thank you. It has been closed up for a while. I saw it in there in March and the car has been playing on my mind ever since.

Good idea. I'll send them a message.

Thank you!

sorry forget that Jack, was getting the years mixed up, you won't have a manual button, all held on the Comand system so nothing mechanical to click

It didn't sound like a click. It was more of a subtle buzz. With the roof down the wind noise muted it but the moment the roof went up it's all you can hear. Not loud but loud enough to be annoying. The noise was there with the fan on or off so I dont think its fan related and it was constant. While the ignition was on, the noise was there.

Thanks,

Jack

Sorry, also did the 55s all come with push button start buttons though not fitted with the facility to start with the button. Only I forgot to test it and the dealer is telling me that they all have the button but only some had the option ticked and work
