As my 190E 2.0 is now 162 miles off the magic 100K I was idly wondering what the average (I know there's no such thing really) clutch life was? I hasten to say I have no current cause to suspect problems.

The car has been in the family since about 40K so has not had a replacement to my knowledge.

Is it a big expensive job to do and anything else that should be done at the same time?

Hi

I wouldn't worry about the clutch. They last almost forever. You should get well over 100k. If driven well another 100k would not suprise me. I know that sounds a lot. But I have seen them last 160/180k and the release bearing has collasped and that was the reason why we changed the whole thing while the box was out.

Van etc is another subject as they come in for a lot of abuse.

Hope this puts you mind at rest
