I no Malc, I have the bug now though, want to carry on with the rest of it, have to use it now and save some money for the winter months so I can get the next step........

I must say, I did enjoy my little drive out in it today, after all the hassle I have had with this car and only done less than 300 miles in it, I do like driving it, that makes it worth while, tells me I did buy the right car...........

Cole if you want it to be reliable then strip the wiper mech, grease it and reassemble it.
Also take the fuel pump relay apart and check it for bad solder.
I know these things are common knowledge, but pretty much everything else on that old girl will get you round the world and back!!!!!

2 good points here There are only about 40 joints inside the relay and this would only take 15 mins to re flow solder them all.

Next time you have it up on the ramp, change the fuel tank filter as this does get for gotten. Hope this helps

Had a bit of time today so did a bit on the rear end, had already steam cleaned the o/s arch so got some stone chip on there.....



I then made up some new brake pipes as i had quickly changed them for copper a while back, cant beat metal brakes, quick coat of matt black





Got them fitted with the new spring clamps in between the two pipes, old ones had just rusted away.....



Quick power bleed on all fours, brakes are coming on really good now, great pedal......should be really!!!





Put the new shockers on the rear,



Just been out around the lovely south coast for the last hour, started at Hamble and did the coast road, ended up near Fawley so its had a good shake down trip, all seems well, no over heating (its hot here today). feel a lot happier now with it, trips to work and back all week ( weather allowing ) and it should be good for goodwood gtg next weekend.....

Out of interest, what size tyres have you fitted to the 8 holes (got a set to go on mine but the tyres are 195/65) and what did you paint the inner arches with?

Don't no tyre size, haven't looked, car at work at mo,

The arches are painted first with rust killer, then smoothrite, then stone chip, two pack clear over the top......

This on hold at the moment, the 124 I really wanted has just been offered to me, only bought the 190 because I was told the 124 wasn't gonna be for sale for ages, this 190 might be up for sale soon........

Things happen Malc, if I sell the 190 then at least someone is getting a ****** good car which won't want for anything for a while, I have enjoyed every minute of doing it and will do it again, I just love the 124 I have been after and can't turn down the chance to get it.........

The 190 has 185 tires but 195x65x15 are even better, 195s are also fitted to the 124. Well Colin you will have to do all this work over again if you get the 124, what engine has it got as Mercedes fitted seven different engines in the 124. Wish I had taken photos of our 124 when I refurbished all mechanical worn parts and new drivers seat, cost us 3000 pounds in parts that was seven years ago, but it is used five days a week. Only cost since is pads disc and tires. Hope this helps
