The systems changes from d2d opticfibre data transfer to the most gateway transfer system with a audio gateway on newer cars. It will also require new or modifications to the trims and centre console. It will be complicated but it maybe possible so as Malcolm says speak to Alfie he will know for sure.

Firstly it is possible but if you want to go for Comand APS (DVD based) then it will be horrendously expensive as presently your car is D2B. The newer Comand APS units are MOST based. At the very least it will require trim changes, possibly a new instrument cluster and maybe SAM modules. There are two cars in the world that I know of that have been completely converted from D2B to MOST. Both were done by people with the time and experience to do it. It really is a big job to do it properly. You would be better off changing the car to be honest. However, if you simply want to go for the D2B based widescreen comand that was fitted to some W220's and W215's then that is possible. You may need new trims and mountings but that should be about it. Take a look at richards webpage http://www.mercupgrades.com. That should help with part numbers.

As for a phone kit, yes this is relatively easy. You can retrofit UHI phone pre-wire to a D2B car quite easily. You then get the same choice of phone cradles as the newer cars with a couple of exceptions. Those being the iphone cradle and the HFP bluetooth.

The latest teleatlas DX disk, which is the one you require, is the 2008/2009 disk with TMC and Major roads of Western europe.
