CLK280 SPORT/2005/280
Hi All, just joined, hello.

I am just about to acquire a CLK280 SPORT AUTO with AMG styling, similar to this one.

It's got the AMG wheels and sport body kit, just wondering if I can I put an AMG badge on the boot.

Would that be cool or not. It's got the AMG sport styling and wheels so can I have the badge to show off my pride and joy, but I don't want to be seen as a fake, any advice welcome. Thanks

Why not! the car has the looks so why not have the badge to match.

Its sad when we see brabus and AMG badges on cars that shouldnt have them.

Hi , welcome to the forum.
I myself wouldn't badge a car and advertise something that it isn't.
Instead keep everyone guessing !!
Just my thoughts

Yes I have the complete AMG styling but I would not fit the AMG badges, the exhaust are wrong for a start and any knowing person would see that when following

You just contradicted your self in both sentences , yes it is sad
To re-badge a vehicle , to something it isn't .

So is it ok for me to change my wheels and re-badge my W210
To an E55 ? , As Malcolm says only the purists would know !.

But I sure wouldn't do it , sure I would love something more
Powerful or head turning , but the vehicles we own suit our
Lifestyle and pocket .

I would say that there is nothing wrong with modifying your
Car , if that's the bag your into , but just keep everyone guessing
What's under the bonnet !

Arhh. Ok , this all takes me back to my youth , when I had
My first car , a Ford mk2 cortina , and all the lads re-badged
These as 1600E , and Escorts to Rs2000 and Mexico lol

And I'm sure a lot more since .
I remember a mate of mine put a Rover V8 into a mk2 Escort,
Did a good job , looked so standard , even down to a single exhaust
Pipe out the rear , with popular plus badges on the boot lid.

It did give a few surprises !.

its one thing having the body kit and wheels that is classed as a styling upgrade , but then to put the amg badges on, its a bit like sewing an armarni label on your nice shirt .but its your car . me i might fit a body kit and wheels but not the badge .it looks as if you want to own an amg ,but just cannot afford one . bit like owning boxter ,it says you like porsche but cannot afford a propper one a 911.

I think badging a car to look like something it isn't is sad, definately not cool.

The saddest car I have ever seen was a beautifully finished AC Cobra replica that looked great right up to the point were he started the 1600cc 4 cylinder Ford engine.

Welcome to the forum anyway, that looks like a very nice car without the AMG badge.

When I had my Jaguar S Type R it had the R badge on the rear never paid mutch attention to it untill one day I went to a local meet and got very confused by some chap in a black S Type same year as mine with an R badge on the rear. I passed a comment that it did not look like a S Type R as the wheels were not the correct size. He accused me of being a complete turd for passing comments about sticking a R badge on a non S Type R. I just asked him what was the point and did he assume that by sticking an R badge he would get another 100 bhp. I then walked away. Never have worked out why anyone would want to rebadge their vehicle to something it is'nt. I can understand de-badging. Just my few thoughts on the subject.
