A while ago I posted about occasional poor fuel economy, and suggested it could be active regen on the DPF. Several others also suggested this could be the case, however in the last couple of weeks, the car has been prompting me to add oil the next time I fill with fuel, and checking on the dashboard, it is at the minimum level.
The car is 11 months old, and has done 7,000 miles. I'm working on the assumption that is left the factory filled to the correct level, so 1 litre of oil in 7,000 miles seems a lot! Assuming there is not a leak (which I will get them to check), that means it is burning oil, and could that therefore be contaminating the DPF with soot? My driving is mostly a 30 mile each way commute, so I'd expect passive rather than active regen for this.
