After a no start yesterday morning, engine spins over fine, but won't fire up, I've removed the crank sensor and would like to test it. Can the wise Mercedes beards tell me if I can measure the resistance with the multimeter? I'm sure I've read in a thread somewhere about this very subject but the search facility won't help me today.

Actually having just tried it, I get 700 ish ohms from the crank sensor, the cam sensor I'm not so sure. Bridging pins 1 and 2 gives 1.8 or 2.5 if I reverse the probes and nothing between pins 1 and 3 or 2 and 3.

I would be grateful for any enlightenment, preferably in words of one syllable or less so that I may understand :?

Regards
Rob

The CPS measures between 800 and 1k ohm, the others I do not know.

Twas the cam sensor. The new one shows a resistance value between pins 2 and 3.

I wouldn't like to say if the injectors or the fuel pressure are ok or not to be honest. The car was running fine one day and then wouldn't fire up at all the next, I changed the cam sensor and it started first time and is running fine again. Mind you, the battery/alternator warning has started to flash up on the display now (never done that before) so it looks like I've got some more expense to look forward to already.:|

The battery may just be low due to the cranking,,see what happens after the car has been running for ½ hour

I've put another post on about that Malcolm, I found a very useful post that explained how to check the alternator output using the Comand menu, it's charging at 11 to13 and a bit volts which is pointing towards the brushgear wearing out I think.

I think it does, I've never actually had a good look at it but I'll to have jack the car up if I get a chance tomorrow and see what make it is. Can't tell from the front as it's filthy dirty.
