Cruise control fault diagnoses W126

I have re-soldered one successfully this year, dry joints on the bigger more rigid components being at fault.

I'll have a look at mine tonight... best get a soldering iron I suppose then

Sorry to rehijack this thread, but the Cruise in my W124 (230E) is having an issue at the moment.

Its best described as a repetitive surge.

At 60kmh its like stabbing the accellerator pedal on and off. Not so bad at 100, but still noticable. Its 'calmed' down by resting the right foot on the go pedal.

Any thoughts?

Just for Malcolm, I was wondering if you had any luck with the ECU I sent you? I will of course more than happily pay postage etc.

I've got a nice road trip coming up, it'd be nice to have cruise!

I've had this 1989 one from new ex Alan Day London and the cruise pictured was supposed to be original kit factory fitted.

Nothing wrong as far as I can test, I have another identical, I do know that the guy that had this one replaced it and all was fine.

I am pushed to do something for a few days and I will come back on it early next week,,, please jog me on Monday

The only bits are 2 caps that could have failed, you can have them both back later this week, there is no way that the other components can be tested out of the car
