cutting out

hi ive got a clk 320 <2000> and when i drive it hard over 4 thousand revs it starts cutting out and lossing power like its running out of petrol and the engine is missing and lumppy , and on tick over its only just running . if i switch of and re start its fine againe any idear many thanks
